Let’s get started right away!
As a self-respecting Gothic, you certainly have a well-stocked liquor cabinet. This is your miracle weapon for successful gothic drinks ! But what if you want to go one step further and surprise your world? In this case, you’ll have to head into the kitchen and make your own cocktails to make sure you’re a hit with your friends. And for this reason we have selected the 5 coolest gothic cocktails for you to make yourself and of course to try 😉 Here they are:
Gothic Cocktail #5: « Corpse Reviver 2 »
Let’s start right away with an absinthe-based cocktail to get the evening off to a great start! The quintessential goth spirit and a classic for late-night get-togethers… While all the legends surrounding it are largely complete myths, absinthe remains one of the favorite drinks of many goths. ☠️ And since it’s a strong spirit with such a special character, it’s easy to see why!
To make this cocktail with a devil soul you will need :
- 2 cl absinthe (of course!)
- 2 cl Lillet Blanc (Weißer Lillet)
- 2 cl Cointreau (Triple Sec or another orange-based liqueur works too)
- 2 cl lemon juice
- 2 cl gin (yes we will add gin!)
- Lemon zest for a stylish garnish
To begin, pour the absinthe into the (final) glass you chose. You can use this to pour out the cocktail mix that you are about to prepare. Add all other ingredients (except the lemon zest) to a cocktail shaker with crushed ice. 🧊 And then shake, shake, shake.
Then you simply pour the whole thing into your glass and add the lemon zest. This gives him a new kick. Combine it with gin and you’ll fly straight to hell and even take everyone far beyond thanks to the special taste of this cocktail. An absolute must for a successful evening.
Gothic Cocktail #4: « Mr. Hyde’s Potion »
With its amazing purple color, this cocktail is also a sensation! Serving a purple drink, the color you wouldn’t expect from an alcoholic beverage , is a wonderful idea.
To create this miracle you need to make your own tarragon syrup. And don’t panic, we’ll tell you how. For this step you need:
- A cup of water
- A cup of sugar (same size as the water)
- Two sprigs of fresh tarragon
Place the water and sugar in a saucepan and place over medium-low heat until the mixture begins to boil. Then you can add your fresh tarragon (after all, we are preparing a tarragon syrup here). Then you have to wait ten minutes, stirring every now and then and reducing the heat until the mixture starts to boil. When this time is up, you can remove the tarragon and turn off the stove.
Now it’s time to prepare the rest of the cocktail! For this you need
- 3 cl Wodka
- 1 cl Likör of Love
- 1 cl blackberry liqueur
- 1 cl lemon juice
- 1 cl lavender syrup
Add these ingredients, the syrup you just made, and a large amount of crushed ice to your shaker . And of course you shake vigorously to get a mixture worthy of the name. You only need to do this until the mixture is very cold, which should only take about 20 seconds. ⏱
Pour into a glass and just enjoy! The ideal garnish for this cocktail is to attach a few blackberries to the ends of toothpicks. This will give you a delicious and pretty drink.
Gothic Cocktail #3: « The Black Devil (Schwarzer Teufel) »
Unlike the last cocktail, the Black Devil Martini requires virtually no further preparation for a delicious and very strong gothic cocktail . To prepare it you only need :
- 4 cl dark rum
- 2 cl Trockener Vermouth
- A black olive for the garnish
- Black, orange or red sugar
First, you need to wrap the jars in colored sugar. If you’re throwing a big party, you can always use different colored sugar for the jars instead of just making them one color. That always looks nicer! Unless you only want black everywhere, then we tend to agree with you 😉.
As with the final steps of most of the cocktails above, simply pour crushed ice into your shaker, add all of the above liquid ingredients (in no particular order), and shake vigorously. Then pour the whole thing into your glass and you’re done!
Gothic Cocktail #2: « The Red Widow »
Ah, this one is perfect as the first cocktail of the evening or even as the icing on the cake of your party – any time of the evening, really. 🥳
Here’s what you need to design this beauty:
- 2 cl dark vodka
- 2 cl Cranberry-Saft
- Red Sugar
You can of course also use red sugar to create a nice little rim around the glass. And if you really want to go in the quirky and unique direction, you can also find some of those little pearls that are usually added on birthday cakes and put them in your jar.
Then you can fill your glass with ice and pour in your cranberry juice. Then, finally, slowly pour the black vodka over the cranberry juice. There should be an overlay effect that makes your drink look just as powerful on the outside as it does on the inside! 😈
Gothic Cocktail #1: « The Cocktail of the Brain »
Saving the best for last, the most devilish too, the brain cocktail is our favorite because it’s the most gothic of them all ! To make this ultra dark atmosphere creation you will need :
- 1 cl strawberry vodka
- 2 cl lime juice
- 3 cl Baileys (or other Irish cream)
- Some grenadine or other red syrup
Take your vodka and add it to the lime juice in your shaker. There is no need to add ice for this recipe! Shake and gently pour the mixture into a shot glass . 🧉
Now comes the tricky part. You will need to dip a very small amount of Irish Cream into the shot glass using a straw. Use your finger on the top of the straw to create a slight draft to keep the Baileys inside. After dipping the Baileys, slowly move the straw up and pull your finger out. The Baileys will curdle a little. Repeat this process to create the brain at the top of your shot glass. 🧠
Once you’ve done that, you can then add your red syrup for an extra effect that deserves its attention. And you have a drink that your guests will be both horrified to see and excited to try!
